A brief biography of Myo Shin Osho (Curt Steinmetz)

• 1988 begins practicing Zen with Lorrie Collins, who was at that time a student of Joshu Sasaki Roshi
• 1989 Paul Dubin and Curt start the Indianapolis Zen Group (now the Indianapolis Zen Center) at Paul's house
• 1992 Curt becomes a student of Zen Master Dae Gak
• 1994 becomes Vice-Abbot of Indianapolis Zen Group
• 1996 does traditional 90-day "Kyol Che" retreat at Shin Won Sa Temple in Korea - the retreat is led by Zen Master Dae Gak
• 1998 moves to Washington, D.C. area and starts the Dae Do Sah Zen Group
• 2004 receives "Inka" from Zen Master Dae Gak, as well as the new Dharma Name "Myo Shin" and the title "Osho"

In addition to studying with Zen Master Dae Gak, Curt has benefitted greatly from the teaching of Zen Master Sen Shin, who was formerly Abbess of Furnace Mountain, and is now the Guiding Teacher for the Queensland Zen Center.

Curt holds a PhD in Chemistry and he has over a dozen scientific publications in electrochemistry, chaotic dynamics and protein x-ray crystallography. He has also been active in a variety of peace, justice, feminist, pro-labor and environmental causes throughout his life (for more details please contact your local FBI office). In addition to Zen he is very interested in all forms of Buddhism as well as Hinduism, Paganism, Greek philosophy, Astrology, Tarot, Jungian psychology ... well, you get the idea.

He is the Director for Information Systems for a small non-profit scientific research institute in Calverton, MD. He and his wife Beth live in Rockville.
